FAM connects caregivers to expert training and monthly support groups for resource parents and other adults caring for system-involved youth at risk of commercial sexual exploitation.
FAM Caregivers attend a 4 day / 16 hour virtual training on best practices to support and parent system-involved youth youth who are at risk or experiencing commercial sexual exploitation (CSE).
Trainings are facilitated by Training Associates and Lived Experience Experts from WestCoast Children's Clinic, who bring a wealth of knowledge and experience working with young people who have experienced CSE.
This training meets the Resource Family Approval (RFA) requirements for 16 training hours.
- Risk factors for exploitation
- Identifying trafficking or grooming
- The impacts of trauma and abuse
- Ways to reduce risk and harm
- Creating safety to heal and thrive
Caregiver Monthly Meet Up
The FAM Caregiver Monthly Meet Up provides a monthly, virtual opportunity for Bay Area caregivers to connect, learn, and build community. This group is intended to support families caring for system-involved youth who are at risk or experiencing commercial sexual exploitation (CSE). Attendees should complete initial training on this topic before joining.
Meetings are facilitated by a Training Associate and Lived Experience Expert from WestCoast Children’s Clinic who brings a wealth of knowledge and experience working with young people who have experienced CSE.
In addition to receiving a $50 incentive for attending each meeting, this group meets the Resource Family Approval (RFA) requirements for ongoing training hours.
